WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT ?

ĐỤRIAN is a tropical gourmand that celebrates the king of fruits: durian!  Even though it is known as king, I like to say it is the most punk of all fruits.  It's spikey and refuses to conform to what society expects it should be.

I knew I had to highlight durian in a composition ever since I launched Black Dog since I heard many conversation around me about the smell of this fruit note.  Many love it and many hate it.  I have been told that it is an inherently bad smell and even though I know it is banned in many hotels in Asia.. I never thought it smelled bad.  Of course over riped and spoiled durian in the heat smells bad but I think any fruit would in those cases.

When I looked into the gcms data of the odor I noticed that it shared many common scent molecules as other fruits that people love but the scent is so concentrated that it scares people.  

This scent composition is kept simple to share the aspects I love about durian.  The sweetness, creaminess and unique tropical qualities.  This is my favorite fruit, and I’ve always wanted to highlight it in a scent. Inspired by my go-to drink, a durian avocado smoothie, this fragrance blends the creamy richness of avocado with durian tropical fruitiness. The durian is tinctured and paired with a sweet condensed milk accord, creating an irresistibly addictive aroma. Bright notes of tea leaves and kaffir lime add a touch of freshness and greenery, balancing the composition. 

I know durian isn’t for everyone, but I encourage you to give this scent a try.  You might find it far more wearable than you’d expect!
