Frequently Asked Questions
Order
We’re a small, family-and-friends-run business, and every order is packed with care by our tiny team.
In fact, our entire shipping department is run by just one incredible person! She is Deaf and non-speaking, and more importantly, she’s someone who has been like a mother figure to me since I was growing up. We're incredibly proud and grateful to have her as part of our team.
She works hard to prepare and pack your orders as quickly as possible, but because we're a small operation, processing times can vary depending on how many orders we receive.
When you receive it depends on where you are. We aim to process all orders within 2 weeks of purchase. During busy seasons, launches, or special events, processing may take a little longer. Overseas deliveries can take anywhere from 7-16 days. Delivery details will be provided in your confirmation email.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and for supporting a small business built on family, friendship, and love. Every order truly means a lot to us.
Yes, we ship all over the world where but it is limited to where Shopify the platform allows.

Perfumery & ART
Each of our names has a personal story behind it, reflecting our experiences, relationships, and cultural identities.
LV1 STUDIO / LEVEL 1
LV1 is short for "Level 1," a reference to video games and the idea of starting a new adventure from the beginning.
We founded LV1 Studio while we were still working our day jobs. It began as a way to keep our hobbies, creative interests, and passions alive while exploring the possibility of building something bigger.
To us, LV 1 represents the courage to start something new, even when you don't know where the journey will take you.
d.grayi / Diphylleia Grayi
d.grayi takes its name from Diphylleia grayi, commonly known as the skeleton flower. The flower was featured in a song by the late Jonghyun of SHINee.
What makes this flower extraordinary is that its delicate white petals become translucent when wet, revealing an almost otherworldly beauty.
For us, the skeleton flower is a reminder that nature is full of mysteries we have yet to understand. In our busy modern lives, it's easy to forget how extraordinary the natural world really is.
That sense of curiosity and wonder continues to inspire d.grayi's exploration of scent, nature, memory, and culture.
KST SCENT / Korean Standard Time
KST stands for "Korean Standard Time," a time zone that holds a special place in our relationship.
Before we could be together, we (James and Kael) were in a long-distance relationship, constantly keeping track of Pacific Time and Korean Standard Time just to stay connected and be part of each other's daily lives.
For most people, KST might simply be a time zone. But for those who have lived in Korea, traveled there, or have loved ones across the world, those three letters can carry a much more personal meaning.
We approach fragrance concentration a little differently! Rather than following traditional categories like Eau de Toilette (EDT), Eau de Parfum (EDP), or Extrait de Parfum, we carefully select the concentration of each fragrance to best express its unique mood, character, and texture.
We don't believe that concentration percentages alone accurately represent a fragrance's longevity, projection, or overall performance. A higher concentration doesn't necessarily mean a longer-lasting or better fragrance. We do tend to use a high percentage of long lasting base materials because of personal preference and enjoy scents that last all day so it has time to tell the full story.
Our approach also reflects our desire to decentralize perfumery and move beyond its traditionally French-centric conventions. We believe fragrance should be experienced through its creativity, cultural significance, and personal expression rather than defined by traditional European classifications.
That said, we understand that these categories are helpful for many customers when shopping for fragrances.
For reference, our fragrances generally fall between the traditional Parfum and Extrait de Parfum concentration ranges.
Ultimately, we believe a fragrance should be judged by how it smells, feels, and tells its story, rather than the percentage on its label.
Our fragrances are created using a thoughtful combination of natural and synthetic ingredients. We believe both play an important role in bringing our scent stories to life.
We prioritize investing in natural materials that hold cultural significance to us, while using carefully constructed accords and synthetic ingredients to recreate notes that may not exist naturally or are difficult to extract.
For d.grayi, we love exploring Vietnamese and other Asian botanical materials that are rarely found in traditional perfumery. We source ingredients from small artisan producers, independent distillers, and farms, and even create our own tinctures to bring authentic cultural elements into our fragrances.
Because many of these materials are uncommon in commercial perfumery, we make an effort to highlight the natural ingredients used in each composition on our product pages. We want our customers to discover the materials and stories behind each fragrance.
For KST SCENT, our approach reflects the contemporary Korean culture that inspires the brand. Many Korean botanical ingredients have become more accessible to the global cosmetics industry through the growth of K-beauty, making it easier to incorporate certain naturals while meeting European Union fragrance regulations.
Since KST SCENT often explores modern Korean experiences, food, and pop culture, its compositions generally feature a balance of familiar perfumery materials and culturally inspired accords.
Ultimately, we don't believe natural automatically means better, or synthetic means inferior. What matters to us is creating thoughtful, expressive, and safe fragrances that tell authentic stories.
Yes we do reference the IFRA Standards library with every material we add to a scent.
This is the reason why we constantly update our formulations to reflect current and future restrictions/limits. We try our best to keep the same mood and complexity of each scents through the years but it will change through each project's existence.
Both d.grayi and KST Scent follow IFRA Standards though only KST Scent follows both IFRA and EU standards since d.grayi utilizes more materials that are cultural and from small-batch artisans.
We are against AI in perfumery and we understand that the world is huge and many have different stances on AI but we are a small company in USA and for us, the government does not have regulations/protections installed to make sure lower income communities, POC, and artists/workers are not negatively affected by the AI boom and physical data-centers.
We ask all our retailers, collaborators, and customers to please DO NOT use any gen-AI alongside our perfumes, artwork, and merch.
We are proud to be human-made and continue to commission illustrators, designers, photographers, and models to help create our imagery. We have a limited budgets so we work with our friends with art related hobbies and we do use stock images that are marked non gen-AI.
We did have an AI inspired project: RED PILL v BLUE PILL : Strawberry Support & B1-66ER project to raise funds for PCRFF and highlight the absurdity of AI in creativity. This project was polarizing because of the topic but read more if you're interested in why we wanted to highlight the topic of AI vs Humanity.
We commission art from our friends and smalll artists. If you are interested, we don't have the right to sell their artwork like that but we are happy to ask them if you email us directly at kael@dgrayi.com
